World No Tobacco Day
As part of the celebration of World No Tobacco Day, and in reaffirmation of the university’s key role in promoting health awareness and fostering a culture of prevention among young people, the National Higher School of Autonomous Systems Technologies (NHSAST), under the supervision of its Director, Professor Kamel Boudjit, hosted on Thursday, June 4, 2026, a scientific and awareness-raising event dedicated to the fight against smoking. The event was organized in partnership with the Public Health Establishment of Zéralda, the Algerian Society of Pulmonology, and the Delegated Directorate for Youth and Sports of the Sidi Abdellah Administrative District, under the theme:
“Together Towards a Smoke-Free Generation”
This scientific and health-focused event brought together a distinguished presence of officials, medical specialists, associations, laboratories, sports clubs, faculty members, and students. It also witnessed strong participation from the university community, who engaged actively in the various activities, including scientific lectures, awareness stands, and medical screenings highlighting the dangers of smoking and its harmful effects on both individual and public health, particularly on the respiratory system.
The event was further enriched by the participation of the “El Wifaq Sports Club”, which delivered a remarkable demonstration of Vovinam Viet Vo Dao, a traditional Vietnamese martial art aimed at developing a balanced personality combining strength, discipline, and ethics. Its emblem, “The iron hand over the compassionate heart,” conveys the message that true strength is rooted in noble values and good health, emphasizing sports as a healthy alternative to harmful behaviors and a means to promote a balanced lifestyle.
The Scientific, Cultural, and Sports Activities Department of NHSAST reaffirms its continuous commitment to supporting and organizing such scientific, health, and sports initiatives, given their positive impact on the physical and psychological well-being of students—especially during examination periods, when balance and focus are essential for academic performance. These activities also contribute to fostering teamwork, initiative, and a strong sense of social responsibility among students.
At the conclusion of the event, partners, facilitators, and contributors were honored in recognition of their valuable efforts and effective contribution to the success of this scientific and health awareness initiative.
Together for a conscious society, better health, and a smoke-free generation.
