Biography

Dr. Selim Sahrane is a Lecturer at the National Higher School of Autonomous Systems Technology (NHSAST), Algeria, where he teaches electronics and embedded systems design.

He received his Ph.D. in Electronics from the École Nationale Polytechnique, Algeria, with a specialization in applied machine learning and non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) — a field concerned with the intelligent disaggregation of electrical energy consumption at the appliance level.

His research interests lie at the intersection of signal processing, machine learning model compression, and resource-constrained deployment, with a particular focus on enabling on-device inference on low-power embedded hardware.

His current work explores knowledge distillation and neural network quantization techniques for deploying deep learning models on microcontroller-class devices.
